Enrique Iglesias (Preysler) was
born in Spain on May 8, 1975. Even with his
famous roots, Iglesias had to become one of
the biggest Latin-music performers before
crossing over to the pop charts in 1999.
Enrique's interest in the entertainment field
began shortly after graduating from high
school in Miami, and in 1993, Enrique began
writing songs and working on his vocals,
eventually leading to a recording studio.
Although Enrique's dad, Julio Iglesias, was already a legend
in latin music, Enrique chose to not ride on
his father's coattails and persued music
without using his famous last name initially
and without his father's consent. He later
said of his relationship with his father:

to grown up, to come up with my own style of
music and to be independent."
