The Script hail from
Dublin, Ireland and consist of Danny O'Donoghue,
Mark Sheehan, Glen Power. The trio began with
friends O'Donoghue and Sheehan already performing
with an Irish boy band 'Mytown' in 1996. Their
songwriting and production skills resulted in
trips to the US to work with other producers
where they gained notice. The duo recruited Power
to form a band of their own. The Script became an
official group in 2001 and first got noticed in
Ireland and the UK before making an impression on
the US and across the world.
April 25: The Script release their
first single "We Cry." The song hit the
Top 10 in Denmark and Ireland.
August 17: The Script topped the UK
LP chart for 3 weeks with The
Script.
The LP also topped the charts in Ireland, and hit
the Top 10 in Australia and Sweden.
May 29: The Script topped the
Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart for 7 weeks with
"Breakeven."
July 3: The Script hit the ARC Weekly Top 40 with "The Man Who Can't Be Moved." The single had
previously been released overseas in mid-2008.
The song hit the Top 10 in Denmark, Ireland,
Israel, Japan, and the UK.
September 19: The Script topped the UK
LP chart for 2 weeks with Science
& Faith. The LP also topped the charts in
Ireland and Scotland, and hit the Top 10 in the
US, Canada, and Australia.
November 20: The Script topped the
Billboard Adult Contemporary Tracks chart for 2
weeks with "Breakeven."
September 7: The Script released #3 overseas. The LP topped
the charts in Ireland, and hit the Top 10 in
Australia, Holland, the Netherlands, and the UK.
September 16: The Script topped the UK
Singles chart for 2 weeks with help from will.i.am with "Hall Of Fame." The single also
topped the charts in Ireland and Scotland.
