Jessica Simpson was born July
10, 1980, and hails from Dallas, Texas. She
began singing at a Baptist church and by age
12 was auditioning (unsuccessfully) for the
Mickey Mouse Club ("I made it all the
way to the end, and I froze in the last
audition"). Jessica spent several years
in her youth working on a recording for a
small gospel label she signed with but the
label folded before Jessica could make any
gains with her music. Jessica did continue
appearing in various Christian events and
performed on the same bill as Kirk
Franklin and Ce Ce Winans.
Jessica's perseverance eventually got her to
meet with Tommy Mottola of Sony Records and a
recording contract with Columbia Records
while still a high school senior.
