Born in Texas, Ashlee Simpson is
hoping to follow in the footsteps of her
pop-princess sister, Jessica Simpson, but with what she
hopes is a different edge and sound. Like her
sister, Ashlee followed the reality TV trend
with a show on MTV before releasing her debut
LP and hitting the radio airwaves.

Ashlee performed "Pieces Of Me" on Saturday
Night Live - or did she? When she came
on to sing her second number the music and
singing of "Pieces Of Me" was heard as
Ashlee looked confused and began dancing
around before leaving the stage. At the
closing of the show Ashlee jokingly blamed
the band for the mishap, but accusations of
lip syncing were soon heard and Ashlee
admitted that the stress of recent
performances had left her voice hurting, and
lip syncing was better than cancelling a
performance on Saturday Night Live.
The single "Pieces Of Me" was certified
gold.
Ashlee recorded a duet
("Little Drummer Boy") with her
sister Jessica Simpson for Jessica's holiday
LP, Re-Joyce:
The Christmas Album.
Ashlee hit the Top 40 with
"La La."
Autobiography was the 9th
biggest-selling LP in the US for year with
sales during the year topping 2.5 million.
# 420 on the Top Pop Artists
of the Past 25 Years chart.

show of the Orange Bowl and was booed by the
crowd after her live performance of "La La."

Ashlee gave birth to a baby boy.
Ashlee could be seen on the TV
show Melrose Place before exiting
the show mid-season.
