Stapleton was born on April 15, 1978
in Kentucky. Stapleton spent several years known
predominantly as a songwriter and producing many
hit songs for established country artists.
Stapleton's singing career consisted of being a
member of the bluegrass group The Steel
Drivers from 2007 to 2010, followed by
founding the group The Jompson Brothers
in 2010, and going solo in 2013. He didn't become
an 'overnight sensation' until he was in his
upper 30s and released the LP, Traveller.
November 21: Stapleton topped the
Billboard 200 LP chart for 2 weeks, Digital
Albums chart for 2 weeks, Albums Sales chart for
3 weeks, and Country Albums chart for 29 weeks
with Traveller.
November 21: Stapleton topped the
Country Songs chart for 2 weeks and Country
Digital Songs chart for 2 weeks with
"Tennessee Whiskey."
January 16: Stapleton performed
"Parachute" and "Nobody To
Blame" on Saturday Night Live.
December 31: Stapleton topped the Billboard 2016
Year-End Chart Toppers chart as the Top Country
Artist, Top Country Artist - Male, Top Country
Album Artist, and Top Folk Artist, and with the
Top Country Album and Top Folk Album (Traveller).
May 5: Stapleton released From
A Room: Volume 1. Rolling Stone referred to
the LP as "...strickingly focused, sonically
and thematically..."
May 27: Stapleton topped the
Billboard Albums Sales chart for 1 week and
