Puddle Of Mudd formed in 1993 in
Missouri. Wesley Scantlin along with Kenny
Burkett, Jimmy Allen, and Sean Samonon began
performing as Puddle Of Mudd for several
years before getting a break. Scantlin had
managed to get a demo tape to Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit at a 'Family Values
Tour' performance. Although Scantlin hadn't
met Durst, his demo tape made an impression
and Durst called Scantlin 3 weeks later
setting a meeting in Los Angeles and record
deal with Durst's label, Flawless. Even
though Puddle Of Mudd appeared to be heading
in their desired direction of success, only
Scantlin was still on board with the band by
now and the remaining members were replaced
with musicians Durst had been familiar with:
Wesley Scantlin, on lead vocals and guitar,
Doug Ardito, on bass, Paul Phillips, on
guitar, and Greg Upchurch on drums. The
alternative-metal group were now ready to
find international success. The group first
released the independent LP Abrasive.
Puddle Of Mudd released their
debut LP - Come
Clean.
Puddle Of Mudd toured
Europe with Godsmack.
Come
