The Foo
Fighters consists of Dave Grohl on guitar and
vocal, Nate Mendel on bass, Taylor Hawkins on
drums, and Chris Shiflett on guitar. Grohl formed
the group in late 1994 (after finding large-scale
success with Nirvana) with
original members Mendel, Pat Smear on guitar
(replaced later by Franz Stahl) and William
Goldsmith on drums (replaced later by Hawkins).

- December 2: The Foo Fighters
performed "I'll Stick Around" and
"For The Cows" on Saturday Night
Live.







- November 23: Foo Fighters
topped the Modern Rock Tracks chart for 10 weeks
with "All My Life."


- September 9: Foo Fighters performed on
Shelter From The Storm: A Concert For The
Gulf Coast - a benefit program shown on all
the major networks simultaneously to raise money
for those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
- November 12: Foo
Fighters performed "DOA" and "Best Of You" on Saturday
Night Live.
- November 26: Foo
Fighters topped the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks
chart for 6 weeks with "DOA."



- July 7: The Foo Fighters
performed at the Live Earth concert in the UK. The
7-continent concert organized by Al Gore brought
together over 100 artists to perform and raise
the world's awareness about the climate crisis
and how to make a difference to help the
environment and the world.
- October 6: The Foo Fighters topped
the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart
for 6 weeks with "The Pretender."
- October 13: The Foo Fighters
performed "The Pretender" on Saturday
