Shinedown consists of Brent Smith on vocals, Eric
Bass on bass, piano, and vocals, Zach Myers on
guitar, and Barry Kerch on drums and formed in
Florida in 2001. In the beginning, Shinedown was
formed when Smith put together a group with himself,
guitarist Jason Todd, bassist Brad Stewart, and
Kerch. Todd and Stewart left the group in 2007 and
2008 and were replaced with Myers and Bass. Nick
Perri had joined and left the group within 2008.
Shinedown's rock sound gained them notice and a
following, but it was their more mellow sounding
track "Second Chance" that gave them widespread
attention in 2009.
Shinedown hit the Top 5 on the Billboard Mainstream
Rock Tracks chart with "Fly From The
Inside."
Shinedown released their debut LP Leave
A Whisper
(available for download at iTunes and Amazon-mp3). The group had some success
on the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts with
the tracks "Fly From The Inside,"
"45," "Simple Man," and
"Burning Bright."
