 Queen formed in 1972 in England
with Freddie Mercury (born Farok Bulsara) on
vocals, Brain May on guitar, John Deacon on
bass, and Roger Taylor on drums. The
formation of Queen happened first with a trio
consisting of May, Taylor and Tim Staffell
named Smile. When Staffell
left the group to pursue other musical
interests, Mercury came on board and Queen
was formed (using temporary bass players the
first year together). Deacon officially
joined the group in 1971. By 1972, Queen's
unique rock sound had landed them a recording
deal.


 Queen was released and
Queen's success started in the UK before
hitting the US.


Queen

was released and Queen toured the US although
May had to leave the tour after coming down
with hepatitis and an ulcer.

Heart Attack was released. Queen
was hitting the singles charts in the UK with
"Killer Queen" and "Seven Seas
Of Rhye" but not finding single success
in the US.
