Of All Time !
We have ranked the top pop songs that have charted over the past
50+ years on The ARC Weekly Top 40 and Billboard Hot 100, and
come up with
a definitive list that will continue to expand as we add to it,
and continue to modify as new songs chart on The ARC Weekly Top
40.
The Police consisted of Sting on lead vocals and bass,
Andy Summers on guitar, and Stewart Copeland on
drums. The conception of the post-punk, New
Wave-sounding Police began in 1977 when Copeland
began the trio along with Sting and guitarist
Henri Padovani in England. Summers soon joined
the trio and a few months later Padovani left
leaving the Police as a trio and releasing their
first single "Fall Out."
November 2: Outlandos
d'Amour was released with the single
"Roxanne." The LP was slow to get the
band noticed but the Police continued with
performances in the UK and the US throughout the
year.
"Roxanne" eventually the
Top 20 in the UK and the Top 40 in the US, and
the Police toured the UK.
September 29: The Police topped the UK
singles chart for 3 weeks with "Message In A
Bottle."
Although the Police never officially
broke up, Sting went on to have the most
successful solo career although all members kept
their interests in music continuing for many
years.

Pras) topped the Billboard Hot
Dance Music Maxi-Single Sales chart for 3 weeks
with "Roxanne '97 - Puff Daddy Remix."

Police
- a 2CD set including their classics and their
first single "Fallout" from 1977.

Earth
concert in the US. The 7-continent concert
organized by Al Gore brought together over 100
artists to perform and raise the world's
awareness about the climate crisis and how to
make a difference to help the environment and the
world.
June 28: The Police were on the
cover of Rolling Stone.
December: The Police reunion tour
