John Mayer grew up in
Connecticut and as a teen became a fan of
blues music after hearing a Stevie
Ray Vaughan recording. Within a few
years, Mayer started playing guitar and
performing in blues bars. By age 19, Mayer
had temporarily studied at Berklee College Of
Music, headed for Atlanta, Georgia to refine
his songwriting skills, and released his
first LP - Inside
Wants Out. His success in Atlanta led to
a performance at the South By Southwest Music
Conference in Texas in 2000, which then led
to a major recording deal with Columbia
Records.
Mayer released his
debut LP - Room
