Journey began in San Francisco,
California in the early 70s with Neal Schon
and George Tickner on guitar, Gregg Rolie on
keyboards, Ross Valory on bass, and Aynsley
Dunbar on drums. Tickner left in 1975 and
Steve Perry joined as lead vocalist in 1978.
Steve Smith replaced Dunbar on drums in 1979,
and Jonathan Cain joined in 1981, replacing
Rolie on keyboards. The band's journey took
off in 1974 when they signed with Columbia
Records.
Journey released their debut LP Journey.
Guitarist George Tickner left
the band.
Journey released Look
Into The Future.
Journey released Next.
Robert Fleischman joined the
group as lead vocalist and was replaced by
the end of the year by Steve Perry.
Journey released Infinity with their first
moderate hits "Wheel In The Sky,"
"Anytime," and "Lights."
Infinity was certified gold.
Drummer Aynsley Dunbar left the
band and replaced by Steve Smith.
Infinity was certified
platinum.
Journey released Evolution with the singles
"Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'"
(their first Top 40 hit), "Just The Same
Way," and "Too Late."

Perry being able to tour and it was decided
that Cain and guitarist, Neil Schon would
reform the group with a new lead singer.
Perry would be pursuing a solo career, and
had a song on the soundtrack for Quest
For Camelot called "I Stand
Alone."

Me."
