- Hoobastank consists of Doug
Robb on vocals, Dan Estrin on guitar, Markku
Lappalainen on bass, and Chris Hesse on drums.
The band hails from California and was formed in
1994 after Robb and Estrin met in a band
competition in high school. During the late 90s,
Hoobastank released a few demos, the independent
LP They Sure Don't Make Basketball Shorts
Like They Used To in July, 1998, and the EP The
Target Release in 2001.
- December: Hoobastank began touring
the US with 311 and Incubus.
- August 27: Hoobastank had to cancel
the last dates of the their summer tour after
Estrin had a motorbike accident which left him
with a fractured skull.
- January: Hoobastank toured in
Japan.
- February: Hoobastank began touring
the US with P.O.D. and Linkin Park.
- July 17: Hoobastank topped the
Billboard Adult Top 40 chart for 10 weeks with
"The Reason."
