RockOnTheNet
presents The Top Pop Songs
Of All Time !
We have ranked the top pop songs that have charted over the past
50+ years on The ARC Weekly Top 40 and Billboard Hot 100, and
come up with
a definitive list that will continue to expand as we add to it,
and continue to modify as new songs chart on The ARC Weekly Top
40.
Foster The People consists of Mark
Foster on vocals, keyboards, guitar, and
percussion, Cubbie Fink on bass and backing
vocals, and Mark Pontius on drums, and hail from
Los Angeles, California. Foster The People formed
in 2009, but burst onto the music scene in 2011
with their cross-over hit "Pumped Up Kicks" which Rolling
Stone described as "...an unreasonably
catchy psych-pop ditty that crashed the charts
with lyrics about a deranged youth on a shooting
spree." The song was actually written and
recorded by Foster 2 years earlier while he was
working as a jingle writer. Foster The People
released a self-titled EP in early 2011 with 3
tracks that are included on their debut LP.
May 24: Foster The People
released their debut LP Torches (available for download at
iTunes and Amazon-mp3). The LP hit the Top 10 in
the US, Australia, and Canada. Rolling Stone
described the LP as "...genre-juggling,
bedroom-dance-floor magic cut with moody-boy
lyrics..."
June 11: Foster The People topped
the Billboard Rock Albums chart for 1 week and
Alternative Albums chart for 2 weeks with Torches.
June 25: Foster The People topped
the Billboard Alternative Songs chart for 5 weeks
with "Pumped Up Kicks."
July 30: Foster The People hit the
ARC Weekly Top 40 with "Pumped Up Kicks." The song topped the
charts in Australia and Poland, and hit the Top
10 in Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany,
Japan, the Netherlands, and the US.
August 20: Foster The People topped
the Billboard Rock Digital Songs chart for 4
weeks with "Pumped Up Kicks."
