TIMELINE

Stray Catsbutton.gif (123 bytes) The 'Rockabilly' trio, the Stray Cats formed in 1979 in New York with Brian Setzer on vocals and guitars, Lee Rocker on bass, and Slim Jim Phantom on drums. The Stray Cats first found success with their Rockabilly sound in the UK with the Top 10 hit "Runway Boys" before hitting it big in the US.

button.gif (123 bytes) By the end of the year, conflicts with the group resulted in Stray Cats breaking up. Phantom and Rocker went on to team up with Earl Slick to form Phantom, Rock & Slick, while Setzer attempted a solo career.
