Soulja Boy was born DeAndre Way on July 28, 1990 in
Illinois. By the age of 16, Soulja Boy hit the
airwaves with his breakout single "Crank That" with its accompanying dance
craze. The conception of "Crank That" began early in 2007 with the
release of the song on Soulja Boy's independent LP Unsigned
And Still Major and a YouTube video teaching the
"Crank That" dance.
