Smash Mouth formed in 1994 in California when Steve Harwell and Kevin Coleman got together and brought in Greg Camp and Paul DeLisle. The band played local clubs in the California area before getting recognition on a local radio station with their song "Nervous In The Alley" which led to a record contract with Interscope Records in 1997.
