Moby was born Richard Melville
Hall on September 11, 1965 In Connecticut.
The name 'Moby' was a nickname from his
childhood and a reference to his great great
granduncle, Herman Melville, who wrote Moby
Dick. In his teens, Moby began playing
with various bands and eventually DJ-ing. But
it wasn't until moving to New York in 1989
and gaining recognition as a club DJ that
Moby was signed to a record deal - eventually
landing him on radio, television, and dance
clubs with his blend of electronica, dance,
alternative, and pop music. Even better, Moby
is known for his out-spoken opinions and

racist, and an anti-Semite. I don't see how I
can lend any sort of support to an artist
like that."

that consenting adults should be able to do
