Cassie grew up in Connecticut
but found success in New York - moving there
after high school instead of going to college
and finding some modeling success. Her
recording career started with meeting
producer Ryan Leslie a few times and then
being asked by her mom to record a birthday
song for her (which led to a track named
"Kiss Me" that Leslie dueted on and
produced for her). The track made it to Tommy
Mottola who offered her a contract.
