Marc Anthony was born Marco
Antonio Muniz in New York's Spanish Harlem.
As a child, Anthony's interest in music was
helped along by his dad teaching him about
music and composition. This led to some work
in his teens doing background vocals as he
also began writing his own songs. As an
adult, Anthony found an interest with Salsa
music allowing him to honor his Puerto Rican
roots and incorporate the club music he grew
up listening to. Anthony went on to become
the world's biggest-selling salsa singer.
Anthony
begin professional singing by singing
background with the "Latin Rascals"
and a producer named Little Louis Vega.
Anthony was asked by Vega to be his singer
when Vega signed a contract with Atlantic
Records and they had a club hit with a track
called "Rebel" and hit #1 on
Billboard's dance charts with "Ride On
The Rhythm."
Anthony and Vega opened for Tito
Puente at Madison Square Garden in
New York.
Anthony released Otra
