ratings continued to soar.
Ruben Studdard was
voted the winner of American Idol 2 with just over 50% of
the vote (with only about 130,000 votes
separating him from Clay Aiken).
Aiken hit the
Top 40 with "This Is The Night."
Aiken topped the Billboard Hot
100 Singles chart for 2 weeks and Hot 100
Singles Sales chart for 11 weeks with "This Is The Night" selling over
392,000 copies its first week of release in
the US.
Aiken appeared
on the cover of Rolling
Stone.
Aiken's single "This Is The Night/Bridge
Over Troubled Water" was certified platinum.
Aiken released his debut LP, Measure
Of A Man.
