All Saints consists of Melanie
Blatt, Shaznay Lewis, and the sister Nicole
and Natalie Appleton. The quartet originally
started as just a duo for 2 years with Blatt
and Lewis until 1995 when the Appleton
sisters joined after a chance meeting with
Nicole. The girls took their time selecting a
record label, as many of them were looking
for the next Spice
Girls - Lewis explained: "So
many labels wanted an exact replica of the Spice
Girls, the image, the music, and the
attitude. We were determined to wait until a
label were interested in us for our music and
wouldn't want to change us, in our opinion,
that's real Girl Power!" London Records
eventually became All Saint's label in
November, 1996.
